Prodigy’s real name is Albert Johnson and he was born on November 2, 1974. He grew to fame in 90s by being a part of the hip hop duo Mobb Deep with Havoc. Prodigy has since transcend into a solo artist, creating his own rap albums and being featured in a couple movies. He is originally from Hempstead, New York and now lives in Queens, New York. He also happens to be the great grandson of the founder of Morehouse College.
Prodigy (Albert Johnson) should not be confused with Craig Crippen, another artist who goes by the same stage name Prodigy, who was lead singer of the hip hop boy band Mindless Behavior. While he was with Mobb Deep, the single “Shook Ones Pt. 2,” released The Infamous in 1995, was a huge success. Prodigy has been in a number of movies including Murda Muzik (2004), Full Clip (2006), Blackout (2007), Rhyme and Punishment (2011).
