It has only been two years since headlines started to appear about the success of Niki Demartino and her sister Gabi. The pair, as documented in one of their hometown newspapers, went from typical teens with jobs at shops like Love It! Frozen Yogurt and Sweet & Sassy salon to YouTube sensations. Documenting their love of fashion, the two have almost four million subscribers.

From Comedians to Fashionistas

As the article explained, “Their first videos were comedy skits and they didn’t especially catch on. What did catch viewers’ interest was what they were wearing in the videos, or how they had styled their hair. After receiving inquiry after inquiry about their fashion sense, they decided to start a new channel dedicated just to that.”

They added an OOTW or “outfit of the week” program to their channel, yet their efforts allow them to show off their individual talents. In another interview, Niki described herself this way: “I’m really girly but I have kind of have a tomboy fashion sense.”

Many say Niki is the bohemian hipster, while Gabi is the glamor girl, yet the pair has gone far beyond just fashion. They also make videos about body image and Niki created a popular video called the High School Survival Guide” which is about far more than clothes, makeup and hair!
