Grassi was born in Arlington, Texas where he met Scott Hoying at a very young age of 10 years at a school play known as “Charlie And The Chocolate Factory”. Both Brassi and Hoying attended the Martin High School where they also met Kirstin Maldonado, who is also in their Pentatonix band today. While in high school, the three started a vocal group known as “The Trio” and since Grassi was as they called him the veteran of most vocal and talent competitions in high school, he took the first place at the Teen Talent Follies for his own rendition of Scott Alan’s own “Kiss the Air”. Grassi missed the opportunity to join college and when he was a high school senior, he also missed graduation because he was auditioning for the Sing-Off that was hosted by the famous Nick Lachey.
