New talent, familiar faces and of course Murphy! Season 14 has got an element of success.

Gotham Review http://pikastar.com/gotham-review/ http://pikastar.com/gotham-review/#respond Wed, 30 Nov 2016 06:28:39 +0000 http://pikastar.com/?p=7754 gotham

Gotham was an interesting idea right from the start, playing on the comic book fans love of Batman by looking at the early years of the Caped Crusader, Jim Gordon and a vast array of villains we would all come to love and hate. However, I don’t think the people behind the show really understood just exactly what they were undertaking here and the show suffered a severe identity crisis because of it. As we moved into season two things became a bit more clear, plot lines a little more coherent and Gotham seemed more confident at what it actually was becoming a show. This continued at the start of season three but with the addition to more characters and story lines, things have gotten a little convoluted again.
Let’s start with season one.

The biggest mistake the showrunners made was trying too hard to please all of the comic book fans around the world. Too much time was spent doing a ‘nod-nod, wink-wink’ concerning all the up and coming villains in Gotham, not to mention many familiar characters that play important roles as the years role on. While a young Bruce Wayne was obviously the main character early on, in quickly became clear that Jim Gordon was going to be the ‘Batman’ of Gotham.

gotham

The show spends most of its time seeing the city of Gotham through the eyes of Gordon, who at this time is a detective and honestly, not a great one. In fact, the GCPD itself is a bloody mess which is just fine for the villains and scum that inhabit the streets. A lot of time was spent on the building of storylines of competing crime families and outfits, with characters like Falcone, Maroni, and Fish Mooney all vying to take over Gotham in some way, shape or form. Penguin also became a big part of the story and this wasn’t a bad thing, except when they spent too much time rehashing the same old thing, making his character less interesting which in itself is a crime.

This is where Gotham had its full-blown identity crisis. One minute it’s incredibly brutal and bloody the next, a cartoon come to life embracing all of its villains in a way that must have made the fanboys weep with glee. These two sides were so extreme in nature it totally crippled the show, especially in the second half of the season and is something it couldn’t shake right up to the finale of season one.

Season two was where some great villains came out to shine, Gordon took a walk down the dark side and overall, the show became much more evil. This is a good thing as Gotham seemed to pick a direction and go with it, even if some episodes cried out for a more adult time slot then its regular 8pm. Ed Nygma/The Riddler, Hugo Strange and The Joker not only made memorable appearances but impacted the show in many ways that are still being felt in season three.

One of the big questions about Gotham was how they were going to handle the Joker. I was pleasantly surprised by both the performance of Cameron Monaghan as the psychotic madman but the way the show handled him as well. You don’t need to nitpick and say technically he’s not really the Joker, even though it’s true, but you just need to appreciate the story woven around such an iconic character and be glad that Monaghan took the character on with no fear and made it his own.

gotham

The same thing can be said, although at this point to a lesser degree, for The Riddler and Penguin, who in season two are being slowly set up to be important parts of the show. Throw in Hugo Strange, his bizarre experiments, and the Theo Galavan/Azrael arc and you have quite a few bad guys vying for our attention. Amazingly, this was not a bad thing but too many other characters and storylines got lost in the shuffle. Bullock needs a lot more screen time, Fish needs a lot less and Barbara…well, she was awesome when she went completely crazy but up until then, she was very disposable.

Season two wound up with the Court of Owls appearing and Bruce vowing to take them down, as well as a collection of freaks and monsters being released on the streets of Gotham, thanks to Hugo Strange and his experiments that were secretly funded by the Wayne Foundation. Not only that but Gordon left the city to try and find Lee. Chaos ruled the streets and while the show sometimes suffered it was at least more fun than season one.

As Gotham rolled into season three, I was very unsure of what to expect but thankfully, the show rolled out a great villain and a new Gordon. (sort of) I was not very excited about Mad Hatter as a villain but he has been a wonderful surprise. Crazy, smart and lots of fun he has caused complete chaos so far and in the right kind of ways. He doesn’t seem like one of the ‘big’ name villains in the whole Batman mythology but he is having a great impact so far in season three.

Another nice surprise was the character switch for Jim Gordon. No longer a cop, he is now a bounty hunter and man, has he embraced his dark side. Feeling free from the police force and no longer shackled by their ‘rules’, Gordon goes after criminals his way and damn anyone who gets in the way. The crazy thing is, this is the most likable his character has ever been and it’s been fun watching him play loose with the rules and not worry about protecting his badge.

However, the best thing to happen so far is the relationship that has blossomed between The Riddler and Penguin. Both are future super criminals that would kill each other without a second thought but they become a very effective team and in a twisted, humorous way it is almost a romance of sorts. It works on many levels and is evil fun and with so many possibilities it boggles the mind.

The Court of Owls also bares their teeth this season, showing how far their reach really is in terms of both people and companies. Bruce originally bows to their threats but after finding a weakness he changes his mind and plows straight ahead with plans of destroying them. The only thing that might stop him is the clumsy romance the writers keep trying to ram down our throats with Selina Kyle.

The best/worst thing about Gotham is summed up in the fact that I have no idea where season three is going and I don’t know if the writers do, either. Just sit back and enjoy the chaos and here’s hoping it’s a lot of fun along the way.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Latest News http://pikastar.com/the-real-housewives-of-atlanta-latest-news/ http://pikastar.com/the-real-housewives-of-atlanta-latest-news/#respond Sat, 10 Sep 2016 00:36:16 +0000 http://pikastar.com/?p=7122 The Real Housewives of Atlanta

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is about to enter its ninth season and there is plenty of news and gossip already filling headlines. Let’s jump right in!

• According to many sources, there is a “major casting shakeup in store for Season 9 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta” With some of the latest reports stating that both NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak are returning. What would that mean for the rest of the cast? We’ll have to wait and see!

NeNe Leakes has already been grabbing headlines with details about her financial issues. In a story from RealityTea we read that she has been circling “around the accusations that she owes over $824K in back taxes from 2014. She doesn’t actually deny that she owes the money. Instead, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star just denies that she is broke.”

Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker made recent headlines for their appearance on the red carpet at the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta on September 1. Described as having “stepped up her fashion game”, Kandi wore a daringly low-cut sheer top and mesh skirt that had many comparing her to Kim Kardashian in NYC that same week.

Shamea Morton is working hard on fitness and letting the world know all about it. On September 1, she also hit headlines by sharing her rigorous workouts on her Instagram feed. Lifting surprisingly heavy weights, she explained she wanted to look as good as Teyana Taylor for her upcoming wedding.

Kenya Moore has been flatteringly described as aging backward. In a series of Instagram posts on August 31, she seems to look startlingly younger than images from her modeling days!

Porsha Williams’ has gone fierce with her hair. She announced in mid-August that she was going to swap out her style for something edgier and she certainly followed through, later posting images a seriously cropped top. Close on the sides with more length above, it is a feminine take on the mohawk that is sure to cause a trend.

• The men made some headlines too. In an interesting spin on gossip about the Real Housewives of Atlanta, E! Entertainment posted an article about the “significant others”. Titled “Here’s Proof That the Real Housewives’ Shady Significant Others are the Most Dramatic Cast Members” the story cites only one RHOA connection – Apollo Nida. In fact, he met Joe Guidice of the Real Housewives of New Jersey fame while the two were in the same prison earlier this year!

• Some nicer news relating to the men of RHOA is that Peter Thomas’ daughter, Porsche, is about to make him a grandfather. He announced on his Instagram feed in mid-August that she currently is pregnant with twins.

Kandi’s restaurant plans may become a reality. In early August it was announced that Kandi’s Old Lady Gang restaurant was almost ready to launch.
That’s all we’ve got for the latest updates, and we’ll now just have to wait for the ninth season to get rolling!

After 22 seasons of Dancing with the Stars, the dancing pros have become famous in their own right and so it’s just as exciting to hear which dancers will be returning for another season. Russian hottie Val Chmerkovskiy will be back and this time, he’ll be competing with his brother, Maksim, who has returned to the ballroom after taking the past two seasons off. Also making a highly anticipated return is Derek Hough who will be competing and Julianne Hough who will be returning to the judge’s table. Finally, former winner Cheryl Burke has confirmed that she’ll be making a comeback as a dancing pro and chasing down yet another trophy.

Unfortunately, two of our favorite dancing pros will not be returning for Season 23. Tony Dovolani has confirmed he’ll be taking a break from the show to tour the country and visit his fans. And Kym Johnson, who recently wed her season 20 partner, Shark Tank businessman Robert Herjavec, announced recently that she’s done with the show and is officially hanging up her dance shoes.

The full cast will be announced later this week on Good Morning America and we can’t help but wonder if there are more surprises in store for fans. What will the pro and dancing pairs be? Will there be non-stop drama? Will someone get hurt? We’ll know soon enough when Dancing with the Stars premieres Monday, September 12 on ABC.

Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn – 7 Facts You Should Know http://pikastar.com/couples-therapy-with-dr-jenn-7-facts-you-should-know/ http://pikastar.com/couples-therapy-with-dr-jenn-7-facts-you-should-know/#respond Wed, 10 Aug 2016 10:01:52 +0000 http://pikastar.com/?p=6795 Couples Therapy with Dr Jenn

VH1’s “Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn” just wrapped its sixth season of relationship problems and over-the-top drama. This season featured Mob Wife, Angela “Big Ang” Raiola and her husband, Neil Murphy along with four other couples who found themselves at a cross-road. Every season, couples delve into their deep issues and struggles while host and counselor, Dr. Jenn Man, attempts to give participants guidance and support.

Before binge-watch the season, here are seven things about the show that we think you should know:

1. Season six cast includes Janice Dickinson and Dr. Robert “Rocky” Gerner, Angela “Big Ang” Raiola and Neil Murphy, Joe Budden and Kaylin Garcia, Carmin Carrera and Adrian Torres, Scott Stapp and Jaclyn Stapp.

2. Dr. Jenn Mann is based out of Beverly Hills and has a private practice specializing in marriage, family and child therapy. Her practice has been open for more than twenty years. Clients seek her help for issues including relationship issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, sexual abuse and anxiety.

3. Dr. Jenn has appeared on many TV shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, The Early Show and CNN. She is also an author and award-willing columnist. Her books include 12 Ways to Give Your Child a Head Start in the First 3 Years and The A to Z Guide to Raising Happy Confident Kids and Rockin’ Babies.

4. Couples on the show are typically reality TV stars who are currently out of the spotlight. Past stars include Linda Hogan, DMX, Jon Gosselin, Jenna Jameson as well as Dough Hutchison and his very young wife, Courtney Stodden.

5. Dr. Jenn isn’t the only professional on the show. Couples also get help from Dr. Mike Dow, the show’s Head Counselor. Dow is a psychotherapist, author and relationship expert. He appears regularly on The Dr. Oz Show, Anderson Cooper 360, and The Rachel Ray Show. This season will also feature Dr. Christian Conte, former host of “Coaching Bad” on SPIKE TV and anger management specialist.

6. All of the couples seeking counseling on “Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn” live in the same house while filming the season together. While living at the treatment center, they undergo three weeks of intensive therapy- group, couples, individual, family, and therapeutic exercises.

7. If you can’t get enough of Dr. Jenn, VH1 has developed a spin-off called “Family Therapy with Dr. Jenn” featuring families of “stars” seeking to explore the difficult ties that bind families. All participants live in the same house while going through therapy just as in “Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn” and go through intense exercises and counseling.

Bottom-line? If you’re looking for your next guilty pleasure, you should absolutely tune in for the non-stop drama on “Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn.” However, if you’re looking for advice and tips that you could apply to your own relationships, you may want to look elsewhere. Dr. Jenn Mann is definitely a legitimate counselor helping real people in the real world with real-life problems, but this show is purely for entertainment while also serving as a reminder that money and fame truly do not and cannot buy you happiness – or common sense.

Season 6 Cast members:

Angela “Big Ang” Raiola and Neil Murphy.
Joe Budden and Kaylin Garcia.
Janice Dickinson and Dr. Robert “Rocky” Gerner.
Scott Stapp and Jaclyn Stapp.
Carmen Carrera and Adrian Torres.

Kristen Bell and Ted Danson Set to Star in “The Good Place” http://pikastar.com/kristen-bell-and-ted-danson-set-to-star-in-the-good-place/ http://pikastar.com/kristen-bell-and-ted-danson-set-to-star-in-the-good-place/#respond Sun, 03 Jul 2016 10:26:27 +0000 http://pikastar.com/?p=6292 The Good Place Trailer

If the creator of “Parks and Recreation” and “The Office” can maintain his track record, then this fall’s “The Good Place” is sure to please. It is set to star comedic experts Kristen Bell and Ted Danson and is based on a very simple principle: a woman dies and goes to the “good place,” when it is clear that she has led a life in which she should have never ended up there.

This is where the story begins…and according to Variety: “Eleanor learns that a clerical mistake has been made, and she’s not supposed to be in the good place. She can’t let this be known, given the alternative. So she has to hide in plain sight — and somehow try to be a better person.”

Executives at NBC did not even want to test the series with a pilot, opting to buy the story and produce it for fall production. This, creator Mike Schur says, will allow the show to “unfold far more deliberately. There’s a lot more room to be funny, hopefully, and tell a more interesting story.”

In an unusual programming strategy, the show is going to feature only 13 episodes and use a “short run”. This has left industry experts excited by the prospect of tighter storytelling, and the casting is another huge element of the buzz.

Bell is a contemporary star with a huge fan following for her quirky humor and natural skills as a comedian. Danson is coming off a long run in drama and dark comedy, returning to straightforward humor many years after finishing up on “Cheers”. The show is touted as traditional comedy, and has been described by creators as energetic and fun.

So, how will the writers create a following for a show about a woman who wakes up dead, and through a clerical error ends up in the good place rather than her actual, authentic destination? The creators have cited the use of simple humor and unusual settings. Creating a “folksy version of heaven, a town filled with stores called ‘Everything Fits’ and ‘Warm Blankets’ and ‘Infinite Light’ and ‘All the Books.'” Of course, there is also the fact that in “heaven” everything is meant to provide you with your ultimate level of happiness.

Because of this, heavenly homes are decorated to suit our favorite styles. In the case of Bell’s Eleanor, the clerical error spills over into this area and her home is jarringly decorated with a startling number of clowns. She is also in a place without swearing, alcohol, and an overabundance of frozen yogurt.

What else do we know? Until now, the creators of the show have been tight-lipped about the plot, promising only one of the most unique half-hours of programming in a long while, and with quality performers headlining, it is likely to be a “good place” to find yourself on Thursday evenings. It will debut on Monday, September 19 and then move to a Thursday evening slot at 8:30 PM.

“Frequency” Debuts This Fall on CW http://pikastar.com/frequency-debuts-this-fall-on-cw/ http://pikastar.com/frequency-debuts-this-fall-on-cw/#respond Tue, 28 Jun 2016 14:28:24 +0000 http://pikastar.com/?p=6220

Many television enthusiasts are excited about the upcoming fall programming. After all, we get to see who died on the Walking Dead among many other revelations. However, the new shows have a lot to brag on, and if “Frequency” lives up to the hype, it is going to rank as one of the hottest shows to appear in some time.

In a review from Lindsay Macdonald, we read that the program “is about to be the best show on The CW” and then go on to learn exactly why. The theme of the show is a bit complex, as explained in a PopSugar article:

A woman accidentally alters the present when she’s able to contact her father, who is twenty years in the past, in this reboot of the 2000 movie of the same name.

The way this show is going to work looks like this – a female detective finds that she can use an old CB radio to speak with her father. The thing is, he’s been dead for two decades. Because of her chance to talk to him as if he is in “real-time”, she warns him of his impending death. When he is able to dodge this event it, quite naturally, alters her present.

As one reviewer said, “mother nature doesn’t like it when you rearrange her furniture” and from the moment her father fails to die, the main character’s current life begins to unravel.

Described as fast paced, it is based on a 2000 feature film that starred Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid, and has already garnered a lot of attention from fans of that movie. Opting for a female lead is a distinct spin, and many insist that it is simply CW seeking to capitalize on the trend in strong female leads, though it is unarguably an interesting spin on a pre-existing story.

Fans of the Fox hit “Fringe” will appreciate this program for its “alternate reality” take on things. Instead of using a time travel element, “Frequency” is going to integrate the “time as river” concept, stating that any changes in the past create an alternate timeline with entirely new events – though both timelines (original and altered) may exist at once.

Confused? Don’t be, advanced reviews say that the show and its story is handled very well, and even allows room for posing ethical questions about meddling with things already done. It also integrates the father-daughter team working together to solve an unsolved case, and even brings up the issue of the “butterfly effect”!

Created by the makers of “Supernatural” and “Being Human” the show stars Peyton List, Riley Smith, Mekhi Phifer, Anthony Ruivivar, Lenny Jacobson and Devin Kelley. So, if you love yourself a good unsolved murder, a time travel story, father-daughter dynamics, and in-depth discussions about the consequences of altering the past, you will probably want to set aside the time to watch “Frequency” when it hits the airwaves on October 5, 2016.

What Everyone Is Saying About Season Four of Orange Is The New Black http://pikastar.com/what-everyone-is-saying-about-season-four-of-orange-is-the-new-black/ http://pikastar.com/what-everyone-is-saying-about-season-four-of-orange-is-the-new-black/#respond Sat, 25 Jun 2016 13:57:13 +0000 http://pikastar.com/?p=6164 orange is the new black season 4 movie

To summarize what many are saying about the latest season of Orange is the New Black or OITNB, let’s turn to one Vox.com reviewer:

…incredibly bleak. It was so brutally hard to watch sometimes that knots would form in my stomach and stay for hours — and yet I couldn’t stop. This latest set of episodes is a powerful reminder of why this show was, and remains, so hypnotizing.

Enough said? Maybe not, and it is important to understand more about this surprising hit. From the powerful opening montage with its haunting theme song by Regina Spektor, fans tend to be hooked straight away. However, one of the things that viewers may forget is the fact that from its theme song to its individual characters and episodes, Orange Is the New Black is about one thing – the willpower it takes to survive confinement.

And season four is making that incredibly clear. Digging deeper than other seasons, it is exploring power struggles from every conceivable angle, with the biggest question being just who should have the power inside the prison walls.

Taking its cues from reality, including the look at a prison shifting from state control to a for-profit entity, it shows how miserable and failed our current prison system has become. Overcrowding, cheap workers, poorly planned accommodation, and the tensions that build from such clashing values serve as the spine of the season’s storylines.

In the midst of this major shift, viewers had to track two power struggles – one at the administrative level and the other at the prisoner level. The prisoners deal with constant racial strife, with classic color lines making life a misery. Victimization at the hands of guards, another element pulled from real life, continues in the narrative, as does the horror of solitary confinement techniques. The privileged class makes an appearance, causing even more strife and conflict and yet this season builds on the tension between inmates and guards the most.

As a reviewer explained:

…new Litchfield marching orders become never thinking of the prisoners as people but rather as faceless criminals who deserve nothing but the walls surrounding them.

Prisons as business alter the entire dynamic of real-world settings, and it has greatly changed the entire “vibe” of Orange is the New Black too. In the name of saving money and boosting profit margins, administrators make fatally flawed choices or create systems in which the abuse of power creates human suffering at unprecedented levels. What is everyone saying about the fourth season of the show? It is dark, and it is startlingly realistic. It is a revealing season, allowing fans to get to know characters a bit better than ever before, and yet the sense of confinement is the strongest most have ever experienced. Trapped and fighting for any sense of personal space, freedom or individuality, the main characters are much less about entertainment this season, and far more realistic.

What Can We Expect from Real Housewives of Orange County Season 11? http://pikastar.com/what-can-we-expect-from-real-housewives-of-orange-county-season-11/ http://pikastar.com/what-can-we-expect-from-real-housewives-of-orange-county-season-11/#respond Mon, 06 Jun 2016 22:14:06 +0000 http://pikastar.com/?p=5805 Real Housewives of Orange County Season 11

It’s hard to believe that it’s been ten whole years since the first episode of Real Housewives of Orange County debuted. Since then, we’ve seen seemingly countless spinoffs, including Real Housewives of New Jersey, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, New York, and even DC. Now, with a new trailer out for season 11 of Real Housewives of Orange County, we’re looking forward to even more craziness.

We’ll Welcome Back the Original Cast!

First, old school fans of the show will definitely appreciate that season 11 will bring back all their favorites. The whole original cast is back, including Tamra Judge, Heather Dubrow, Vicki Gunvalson, Meghan King Edmonds, and Shannon Beador. That’s not all, though. You can look forward to getting to know Kelly Dodd, Meghan’s raunchy BFF!

Starting Where We Left Off Last Season

Fans will be happy to know that they won’t be missing a bit of the drama between Vicki and the other women. You’ll get to know all about her part in her ex’s cancer scandal, and there’s definitely going to be some drama with her and the other girls over it.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Real Housewives of Orange County if there weren’t some surprises. For example, from the sneak peek we got at the trailer, it looks like things might not be over between Vicki and her ex. At one point, she calls him and says, “Brooks. This is Vicki. I believed you and I loved you!” Maybe she’s just still angry, or maybe their story isn’t over yet.

Hashing Out Old Problems

It looks like Shannon’s husband David isn’t off the hook yet for the affair he had last season, either. At a barbecue, Shannon says, “You think that I pushed you to have an affair!?” We might learn even more about what happened there, and who knows what’s in the future for Shannon and David? Could we be looking at another RHOC divorce?

Trouble in Paradise?

Speaking of marital strife, we always thought that Heather and her husband Terry (known for his plastic surgery work on Botched) were the perfect couple. That might not be the case, though. Tensions are high between the two when Heather snaps at Terry, and there might be more drama to come!

The Infamous Dune Buggy Accident

Finally, if you’re a fan of Real Housewives of Orange County, you’ve probably already heard about the dune buggy accident that Tamra and Vicki were involved in. They claim that they weren’t drinking, and we’ve heard that they’re okay, but we’ll have to tune into the show to see what really happened that day.

Are you ready for yet another season of some of the most entertaining reality TV on television today? Over the past ten years, we’ve grown to know and love these women and their insane marriages and relationships, and it looks like season 11 won’t let us down, either. Who’s your favorite Real Housewife? Do you think Shannon and David will make it? Are Vicki and Brooks really done? We can only wait and find out!

We’re getting to the point that the show is moving faster than the books, and HBO is relying on George RR Martin to tell their writers what happens next. So, for the first time, fans who’ve read the books and fans who haven’t are both in the dark about what happens next.

With so much going on as we follow several plots and schemes throughout the show, it can be easy to lose track of different characters, especially new ones. So who’s joined the cast for season six? Who are their characters? And what are they doing? Here’s your guide to the latest additions to your favorite HBO show!

Max von Sydow Joins as the Three-Eyed Raven

Max von Sydow

Max von Sydow – Game of Thrones

Nominated for Oscars for two roles, you’ll remember von Sydow from his roles in films like “Shutter Island” and “Minority Report”. In “Game of Thrones”, he’s the Three-Eyed Raven from Bran’s dreams. The character isn’t new, but von Sydow is replacing Struan Rodger who played him in season four.

Richard E. Grant as Izembaro

Richard E Grant

Richard E Grant – Game of Thrones

Fans of British comedies from the ‘80s and ‘90s will immediately recognize Grant, but so will fans of HBO’s “Girls” and “Downton Abbey”. This season, he plays Izembaro, the lead actor in a group performing a play titled “The Bloody Hand”.

Essie Davis as Cersei in “The Bloody Hand”

James Faulkner as Randyll Tarly

James Faulkner

James Faulkner – Game of Thrones

Samwell Tarly’s father shows up in season six, played by James Faulkner. You may remember him as the creepy and kind of pervy uncle from “Bridget Jones’ Diary”.

Melanie Liburd as High Priestess Kinvara

Melanie Liburd

Melanie Liburd – Game of Thrones

Think that Melisandre’s the only woman in red on “Game of Thrones”? Think again! There’s another High Priestess coming to town, and she’ll be played by the gorgeous Melanie Liburd, known for her roles in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and “Dracula”.

Joe Naufahu as Khal Moro

Joe Naufahu

Joe Naufahu – Game of Thrones

Those who’ve been missing Khal Drogo might have a new favorite character in season six. Played by Joe Naufahu – who will appear in the upcoming “Ghost in the Shell” live action movie – Khal Moro was mentioned in one of the previous “Game of Thrones” books, but he hasn’t had a big role until now, when he’ll be an ally to everyone’s favorite Mother of Dragons.

Of course, there are other new characters popping up on “Game of Thrones” this season, and we’re sure to see a lot of big upsets that will surprise even the most intense fans of the books and the show (“Shut the door”, anyone?). This guide should help you keep track of some of the most interesting and fierce characters who’ll be introduced this season, though. Have fun watching them as they race to see who will claim the throne!
