George Ezra is an English singer-songwriter who grew up in Hertford, England, before moving to Bristol in 2011 to attend the British and Irish Modern Music Institute. In June 2013, George played the BBC Introducing stage at the Glastonbury music festival. That year, he released his debut EP, Did you hear the rain? and started getting airplay of his songs Did You Hear the Rain? and Budapest on BBC Radio 1. George supported artists such as Lianna La Havas, Bastille, Sam Smith and Tom Odell, and then, in March 2014, he released his second EP Cassy O’. The single Budapest was released in June, followed shortly afterwards by the first full-length album, Wanted On Voyage. The album entered the UK charts at #3, and also appeared in the charts in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands and New Zealand. By October, Wanted On Voyage had reached #1 in the UK charts; it would later be named as the third best-selling album of 2014.
In August 2014, George opened for Robert Plant at the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza. In October, he released a video for his song Listen To The Man which featured actor Ian McKellan. At the 2015 Brit Awards, George earned four nominations. He opened for Sam Smith on his North American tour and also appeared with Hozier on his tour of the US. In May 2015, George appeared the the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Norwich, Norfolk.
