What do Angelina Jolie, Maria Shriver, three of the Kardashians and Denise Richards all have in common? Laura Wasser. So too do Johnny Depp, Drew Barrymore, and Jennifer Gardner.

If a headline about a famous couple’s divorce makes you think, “Aww…that’s too bad, I thought they were going to last” you will probably also see Wasser’s name somewhere in the mix.

Why? According to one article in People, Los Angeles family law attorney Atousa Saei said that “Everyone knows Laura. She is the celebrity of celebrity divorce attorneys.”

This is why she is also the “go to” attorney even before a divorce or marriage begins. After all, it was Wasser who Antonia Banderas and Melanie Griffith contacted more than a year before announcing their split and who Britney Spears’ management team relied on after she became engaged to Kevin Federline.

The reigning queen of negotiating an agreement before filing, she is able to keep the ugly details of some of the highest profile divorces from ever reaching the public eye. This is saying something in the era of TMZ, paparazzi, social media and on-all-the-time gossip columnists. In fact, these very same entities have labeled Wasser the “disso queen”, with disso standing in for the more formal “dissolution of marriage” that is the focus of most of her daily work.

Naturally, those unfamiliar with Wasser and her rise to fame may wonder how someone could get to this level. How can an attorney earn such a reputation and create such an approach, that they are famous among the world’s most rich and famous? It is the family business.

Not Far From the Tree

Dennis Wasser started the family law firm (Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles) in 1976 and tended to attract big names even then. He worked for Billie Jean King in the early 1980s when she was then married but sued by her lesbian lover for palimony. Other clients of her father included Mia Farrow, Harrison ford and Steven Spielberg, but Laura Wasser seems to have consistently attracted the younger, newer names in entertainment and sports.

Joining the family business in 1995, after graduating from Loyola Law School, saying:

“For a minute, I worked at the Western Law Center for disability rights, writing up briefs to put safety things in public bathrooms. But then I split up with my husband, and I needed to make a living. So I told my dad, ‘I don’t think it’s going to work out’. And he said, ‘Great, take care of it.’ That was my first case.”

Less than six years after that, she got the job that started her on her celebrity trajectory when fellow attorney to the stars, Johnnie Cochran, partnered with her to represent Stevie Wonder in a massive, $30 million dollar lawsuit. Filed against him by his former girlfriend, Wasser was able to get Wonder what he wanted, earning her reputation as her father had – with a successful palimony case.

Though it was resolved through mediation, she earned such devotion from Wonder that word of her toughness quickly spread.

Though the daughter of “America’s most feared divorce lawyer” (as her father was described in 2004), Wasser herself is often described as quietly ruthless.

This is why celebrities seem to gravitate to her; because she has a knack for keeping things out of court if at all possible. Many attribute this to her bluntness and directness, which is all about getting the deal done. She calls it as she sees it, even if it means directing her bluntness at the client.

Yet, she is also not unwilling to disassociate from a high-profile case if things get out of hand.

Britney Spears, Kevin Federline and the Rise of 24/7 Paparazzi Coverage

This is something seen in the way Wasser responded to the now-infamous Britney Spears divorce from Kevin Federline. Most of us have seen the wildly unfortunate photos of Spears with a shaved head, seeming to snap and go after a parked vehicle with an umbrella. Pleading with the press to leave her alone, she flies into a rage, curses at them and rushes off with a friend in a car nearby.

At the height of some sort of collapse, she soon headed to rehab and emerged healthier and more prepared to return to the spotlight. It was a very good thing for Spears that her management team had put her in touch with Wasser prior to marrying Federline – her second husband.

After all, it was Wasser who was able to make it clear that the fantasy of romance should not overcome common sense. As recorded in an interview with Bloomberg:

“A lot of times what will happen, particularly with young women, is they don’t want a prenup. They’re in love. This is fantasy time—‘We’re never going to get divorced, and I don’t want anybody, certainly not some old guy in a suit, telling me how it’s going to work out.’ So they bring me in. We have the conversation.”

After her conversation with Spears, Wasser was able to help her create a good prenup, but then got the call only two years later when the pair was about to split. The work she had done for Spears was able to address the financial aspect of the relationship, but not the children the couple shared.

However, Wasser left the case a year later saying it was “ugly” and that she got her firm out of the case. Refusing to go into specifics, she did go on the record saying that she felt a change was occurring at the time of the Spears-Federline split and that printed gossip was losing ground while online news was rapidly creating a demand for non-stop images and updates. Saying that the divorce was too publicized, she also noted that Federline’s legal team was “intent on making sure the case got played out to the press. Much more intent than Mr. Federline was, really.”

This may be what has set the stage for Wasser to become one of the cagiest and most secretive attorneys at work in the world of celebrity divorces. Her father jokes that he may not even know she is handling a case until it appears in the tabloids or press, but this is all part of her successful approach.

Ugly Divorces Made Less So

Today’s new pressure for private information or intimate details of a divorce settlement has created a niche into which Wasser easily stepped. She has fashioned a winning recipe for hiding those details from the public, if at all possible. She also has the filing process down to a near-formulaic approach.

This is important when you might be handling multiple, high profile cases all at once. For instance, when she has two big name clients about to file for divorce, she advises both to wait until their information will reach the press almost at the same instant.

Why? It allows both couples to appear in the same magazines or website covers at the same time, diminishing the intensity of the spotlight. Though this seems like a humane reasoning, it also has to do with the strength of a case and the ability to keep it out of the courts and as low-key as possible. As noted in the Bloomberg story on her:

“Wasser urges many clients to negotiate an agreement before filing official documents. ‘I think we worked on it a good year—no, a year and a half—before it came out on TMZ,’ says Melanie Griffith, who hired Wasser when she divorced Antonio Banderas in 2014. ‘And when we did file it, there were some personal things that were agreed upon by Antonio and myself that we had removed from the official papers so they wouldn’t get out.'”

In addition to these negotiations, Wasser’s clients often agree to paying private hiring fees for judges able to work outside of the public courts.
Such an approach allows Wasser to invite both parties, the attorneys and the judge into her impressive offices and use all of the same courtroom practices, but in total privacy. Though some details do eventually reach the public, the most harmful or personal issues never see the light of day. Instead of a courtroom full of curiosity seekers and paparazzi, a private office is the only witness to the events.

However, this has earned some serious complaints from Wasser’s fellow attorneys. Why? Because many family law judges can now earn around $1,000 per hour providing private services. This has caused some to retire from the bench, bringing less seasoned judges into the public system. This can make things challenging for divorce attorneys unfamiliar with the judges they face, and unable to predict the outcome of any case.

Still, it is probably the very reason that Johnny Depp got in touch when his marriage to young Amber Heard collapsed earlier in 2016.

Johnny, Amber and the Media Spotlight

As reported by Billboard in late June:
“Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp just two weeks ago, but already their split has become an ugly legal and press battle. The question facing lawyers for both sides is how the fight playing out in the media will impact the legal proceedings — or whether the public relations war is the only war that really matters.”

This is exactly the matter that Wasser addresses through her carefully constructed approach to celebrity divorce. After all, she actually prefers to have her clients’ cases filed in Santa Barbara, CA rather than Los Angeles because of clerks leaking documents in the larger city. She also explains that the turnaround time between documents being filed and the information appearing in the news is a matter of hours.

As she explained in one interview:
“’The turnaround is so fast,’ Wasser says. ‘I have to tell my clients, ‘OK, the courier is filing it today. OK, he’s in line to file. OK, it’s filed. It will be on TMZ within an hour.’ ”

And it is not just the filing that appears at the speed of light. It is every little detail about a case, and in Depp’s example, things went from nasty, to sour to brutal in the blink of a virtual eye.

From the moment the split with Heard made news, the international spotlight was on the issue. Though it is not earth-shattering, it is celebrity gossip, and this is something that attracts more attention than almost anything else. Because of it, though, Heard’s claims of abuse created even more media furor.

A timeline of events shows that there is evidence of some sort of tumultuous interactions, that the couple was quite intense in their behaviors, but that information was persistently leaked in a clear campaign against Depp and his reputation. Publications like People magazine ran “exclusives” and details from court papers, something Wasser tries hard to prevent from occurring.

Amber alleges that Johnny showed up at her birthday party “inebriated and high” and “violently shoved me to the floor.” She also states that Depp hit her with a cell phone.

Wasser did file to keep divorce details private, insisting that Heard and her team had the right to this information, but the public did not. Delays in the case, due to arguments over depositions relating to the domestic violence, led to another leak. This time, it was a video of Depp, allegedly lashing out violently, and it appeared in the press the day before Heard was to be deposed in the domestic violence issue.

Quite quickly, the case was quietly brought to a conclusion without a lot of further details emerging. Heard’s lawyer, Samantha Spector, negotiated a $7 million settlement, but one that was to be given to charity. On the same day of the settlement, Spector also released a statement explaining that her “assertion that Amber Heard has been vindicated in the court of public opinion is not true. We regret the error and apologize to Johnny Depp.”

This holds obvious shades of Wasser. Her efforts to reclaim her client’s once positive reputation by overriding the damages done by Heard’s team in that court of public opinion are clear. In less than a few month’s time, the issue has died down, and Depp will be able to begin reclaiming his status as a beloved character actor.

New couple alert! Toni Braxton and Birdman are officially together! The rumor mill has been stirring about the duo for months, but it wasn’t until Toni accompanied Birdman to the 2016 BET Awards that their love was confirmed by Toni’s rep. Here are seven things you should know about R&B’s newest “it” couple.

1. They’re old friends – While their relationship status may be new, the two have known each other since they collaborated on Toni’s 1992 track, “Baby You Can Do It.” After 14 years of friendship, Toni says about Birdman, “Ever since I’ve been knowing that man, he’s been phenomenal,” as reported by US Magazine.

2. He’s got mama’s approval – On The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Evelyn Braxton said Birdman is a nice man, adding, “I don’t care what others say about him. He is a nice man. He is full of respect.” If mama’s happy, everybody’s happy! Right?

3. Wendy Williams is not a believer – The talk show host has decided that Toni and Birdman’s PDA isn’t convincing and is accusing the pair of having a “showmance” for ratings. Apparently, the opinion was formed after Williams saw a photo of the couple where Toni wasn’t “cupping” Birdman’s waist enough. Not exactly what we consider photographic evidence, but ok…

4. Birdman doesn’t kiss and tell – According to People, when the rapper was asked about his relationship status with the bombshell Braxton, he said, “We’re just chillin’.” That’s the way to play it cool, Birdman. But we’re not buying it after seeing them together.

5. They made their debut at the BET Awards – Although the rumors have been flying since May, the couple hadn’t officially come out as an item until they showed up together at the 2016 BET Awards show where Birdman was a presenter. The two couldn’t keep their hands off on one another and were spotted getting pretty cozy all night long.

6. This isn’t their first rodeo – Toni has been single in recent years, but before then she was married to Keri Lewis and the couple had two sons together. Unfortunately, they split in 2013 after 12 years of marriage. Birdman has been linked to several famous ladies, including Keyshia Cole, Kimora Lee Simmons, and Trina, according to US Magazine.

7. He’s not afraid to show his affection – Birdman was recently reported to have given Toni a brand new Bentley costing $250,000! The lavish gift is a luxury SUV that hasn’t even been released to the public yet. So, how do we get on Birdman’s good side??

While Birdman and Toni Braxton are a new couple, we have a feeling they’re going to get pretty serious pretty fast if the last few weeks are any indicator. Better get an eye-full of the unlikely couple while you can, because if they’re like most Hollywood hook-ups these days, they may not burn brightly for long.

It was back in March of 2016 that headlines reminded us that Lamar Odom had somehow recovered from a life-threatening overdose and that his wife, Khloe Kardashian was insisting that a stint in rehab was required if the NBA star wished to remain her husband.
Did he follow through?

Sadly, no, and after a few failed interventions along with ample amounts of threatening to leave, it would seem that Khloe is done with her husband. In early June of 2016, a series of tweets from the reality TV celebrity indicated: “she certainly knows how to not be bothered with what’s happening with Lamar Odom.”

And what is happening with him at this time? The answer to that seems to depend on the day of the week. After all, in a recent episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” viewers were treated to an emotional exchange between Scott Disick and Odom. In it, we hear him speaking (with obvious gratitude) about surviving a drug overdose in 2015 and the 12 strokes that followed (yes, that was a dozen strokes in the span of a few months).
Yet, in that same timeframe, friends of the basketball celebrity admit to finding crack pipes in his new home. In fact, one report said this about him: “friends are now claiming that he’s been ‘acting very strange’ lately and they’re worried he’s back on drugs…

Insisting to friends and family that he does not need rehab, though surrounded by drug paraphernalia, drinking heavily, and living alone, it seems he is pushing everyone farther away.

This is why few were surprised when Khloe announced in May of 2016 that she would once again be filing for divorce from Odom. In fact, some sources say that she is more committed to the process this time than she was in 2013, and even going so far as to create distance between them. Kicking him out of the home she and her mother had prepared for him in Calabasas (just a short drive from the Kardashian home), Khloe obviously fears her husband’s choices and the inevitable outcomes.

While receiving a lot of tough love from his soon-to-be ex-wife, Odom appears to be getting the opposite from his family. According to a TMZ report: “Lamar Odom flatly rejected the ‘tough love’ intervention, so his other family is trying a different approach … TLC.”

Explaining that his New York-based family members have been offering moral support and attempting to boost his self-esteem, the report also says that inquiries have been made about outpatient facilities in the Los Angeles area.

Will it be enough to save him? Based on the statistics and Odom’s patterns of behavior, it is unlikely that any outpatient treatment will be tough enough to help him overcome is issues. If losing your wife, your reputation, and your stability is not enough to get you to quit drinking and drugging…what is? Hopefully Odom wakes up before he faces another brush with death, or worse.

Tyga was seen performing and visiting his mom in the days that followed, and when questioned by E! News, he didn’t seem concerned. He reported that he was good, and was trying to advance to the next level in his career. “Evolve”, he said. He also added that he’s hard at work developing a fashion line. Meanwhile, Kylie was photographed in tears at Kris Jenner’s house, being consoled by her sisters.

The relationship was tangled from the start, with Tyga being the father of Jenner’s brother’s fiancé’s child (how’s that for a family tree?), as well as multiple accusations of cheating. The age gap was an issue for Jenner’s family; most thought the now 18-year-old was far too young to be dating the now 26-year-old when they began seeing each other two years ago. The pair met at Kendall Jenner’s Sweet 16 birthday party, when Kylie herself was only 14.

A few years later, at age 17, Kylie went public with the news that she and Tyga were a couple, posting images to Instagram and to Twitter that convinced fans. While Tyga, who had only recently broken off his engagement to Chyna, the mother of his child, claimed nothing was going on, it didn’t take long for him to drop the protestations. His final protestation was a few days after Amber Rose publicly shamed him for dating an underage “friend”, and, in particular, for leaving his finance and child to do so.

It was Kylie’s sister Khloe who finally laid the public mind to rest with an interview in Complex. She defended her sister, calling her a very mature 17-year-old. The moment that Kylie turned 18, the pair went publically “officially”, and Tyga was reported to have bought his girlfriend a $320,000 Ferrari for her birthday. Sadly, after a brief honeymoon period of near-inseparability, the ups and downs began. Their first split happened in November of 2015, on Tyga’s birthday. Kylie talked about the split on Ellen, and later the couple were spotted together again.

Rumors of cheating began to fly shortly thereafter. Porn star Mia Isabella came forward to say that she had been involved with Tyga the entire time he’d been with (underaged) Kylie; later, a 14-year-old Instagram star claimed that the rapper approached her for a meet up. But all of this was nothing compared to the reintroduction of Blac Chyna to the Kardashian life. Rob, Kylie’s brother, began dating Tyga’s former fiancé, eventually getting engaged. They’ve recently announced that they are expecting their first child. While images of Kylie and Tyga at Coachella seemed to put to rest any rumors that the Kardashian-Chyna-Jenner-Tyga circle had broken their relationship for good, it seems everyone was too quick to assign happiness to the couple.

Sources from each party say that both have declared it’s over for good, this time.

Lady Gaga Claims She’s Never Had Plastic Surgery

Upholding her reputation for supporting acceptance, Gaga has been quoted saying, “I have never had plastic surgery, and there are many pop singers who have. I think that promoting insecurity in the form of plastic surgery is infinitely more harmful than an artistic expression related to body modification.” Sounds like Our Lady of Meat Suits has really put her foot down, doesn’t it? So why do some people have such a hard time believing her?

The Evidence for Rhinoplasty

If you look at pictures of Lady Gaga from a few years ago, you’ll see that her nose is far more pronounced. The tip is wider, and so are her nostrils. Overall, her nose is a very prominent on her face, and while it isn’t the largest nose in the world, it’s definitely not small and slender. In other words, it’s not the kind of nose that most people would call “cute”.

Now, look at some of the most recent pictures taken of everyone’s favorite outlandish pop star. Her nostrils are noticeably more slender than they were before, and the tip of her nose is smaller and more pert. Plus, where there was once a more pronounced bump at the bridge, her nose looks more streamlined now. The overall effect is a slim and slender, feminine nose that works very well with her face.

As added evidence, you might also want to take a look at her chin in years past versus today, as well. A lot of people who get rhinoplasty surgery also get a chin implant or reshaping to balance out the look of their new nose on their face. Gaga’s chin is looking a bit more pointed and subtle than it did in years past, as well.

Hiding the Surgery?

Now, we all know that recovering from plastic surgery does take time, and it can be difficult to hide a bandaged nose. However, because people are so used to seeing Gaga in leather masks covering her entire face or with prosthetic horns at her cheekbones and forehead, she’s had all kinds of opportunities to literally mask her recovery right before her fans’ eyes.

So, did Lady Gaga actually get a nose job? Honestly, the truth is between her and her plastic surgeon, but the evidence that we see before us says that the pop star is definitely sporting a modified nose with a more feminine and streamlined look.

It was reported by the Sheriff’s Department that iconic singer song writer, Prince, was discovered unresponsive in an elevator at his residence in Paisley Park. They administered CPR but was not able to revive him back to life. Prince was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:07 am central time.

The circumstances of his death is now being investigated but there seem to be no foul play involved. We recall that on April 15th the singer did have a medical emergency in which he had to take a private jet that made an emergency landing in Illinois. Nothing much was taken from that occurrence since he did appear at a concert the next day where he assured his loyal fans that he was fine. It should be noted however that earlier this month, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that he cancelled a concert at the Fox Theater because he was not feeling well.

His real name is Prince Rogers Nelson and he was born on June 7 1958 in Minneapolis, MN. He was only 5′ 2″ tall but larger than life as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actor and film director. Like Michael Jackson, Prince will go down in history as a true iconic musical legend. His first studio album, “For You”, was released in 1978 and since then Prince has released 39 more, with the last one being HITnRUN Phase Two (2015). Many people will remember the artist for the one he released in 1984 titled Purple Rain. A movie was also made with the same title.

Prince was somewhat of a one man band recording his music on his own. He would play all the instruments and sing every vocal line. Performed on stage with grace and a passion for his music, which could be felt by his audience. He is gone from this earth but his memory will truly live on because he was one of a kind.

Remember it was almost a year ago Tyga, who happens to be Blac Chyna‘s ex and father to her son, gave Kylie Jenner a white Ferrari for her 18th birthday. This was in August of 2015. Jenner is half-sister Rob so there seem to be a love for these kind of luxury cars in the family.

After Chyna made her relationship with rob public in January, the critics came out like a hungry pack of hyenas saying she is a gold digger and it was not for love but for money. With the recent proposal and now her hot new set of wheels, Chyna is certainly having the last laugh.

Has Nicki Had Plastic Surgery?

This is one question that many people ask after seeing the risqué costumes the singer loves to wear. After all, when stars show off, it almost always leads to questions about whether she (or he!) has gone under the knife to add a little here and nip a little there. There are plenty of rumors that abound about Ms. Minaj and plastic surgery, and in this case, pictures just don’t lie.

Nose Job and Facelift

While Nicki is still relatively young at only 33, there are some who claim that she has had a facelift. If you look at photos of the star when she was younger compared to now, not much has changed around her eyes and cheeks. At her age, it doesn’t seem likely that she would have opted for a facelift. However, that doesn’t mean that nothing has changed since her younger days.

While Nicki adamantly denies that she has had a nose job, her pictures tell a different story. In her younger photos, Minaj has a much wider nose and larger nostrils. While she claims that the way her nose looks is all thanks to makeup and contouring, there is simply no way that can change the entire shape and size of her nose – she has obviously had a nose job.

While Nicki is always outspoken about not having plastic surgery on her face, she is decidedly quiet about other areas of her body. However, those before and after photos show a drastic difference in the size of her breasts from when she was younger. While there are plenty of pushup bras available these days, they simply can’t account for the way in which her breasts are much larger, rounder and higher than they appear in younger images.

Nicki has also never confirmed or flat out denied that she had butt implants. Rather than offering a straight answer, she simply states that her butt doesn’t define her. In her eyes, she says, even if people are talking about her derriere, they are still talking about Nicki Minaj. However, the huge difference in the size of her butt compared to her younger years makes it quite obvious the singer has had implants – especially since her decidedly plump posterior does not match her very toned thighs and waist.

While Nicki may claim that she hasn’t had plastic surgery on her face, the differences between her younger pictures and her appearance today speak volumes. The larger breasts and butt along with the much smaller and more defined nose provide plenty of proof that the rapper has been under the knife.

Kim’s Diet Plan

Kim’s diet plan is one that most people have heard of at some point over the last several years – the Atkins Diet. However, she is following the Atkins 40 plan to ensure that she has plenty of carbohydrates and nutrients to help her maintain her energy while breastfeeding her new baby boy.
A major portion of the star’s diet is eating meals high in protein and vegetables. However, her diet plan also includes healthy fats from olive oil, small amounts of cheese, nuts and Greek yogurt. Additionally, Kim can also include fruits that are considered low-glycemic, such as berries.

Another important part of her weight loss plan is that it is set up so that she can lose two pounds each week by following the eating plan exactly. This will allow her to lose weight in a healthy manner that won’t have an impact on the quality and amount of her breast milk.

Of course, while Atkins is a beneficial tool in helping to lose weight, Kim would not be able to see the results she wants without adding a serious workout plan as well. Facelift

While many people might scoff at the idea that an 18-year-old would even consider a facelift, Kylie Jenner’s history with plastic surgery and the considerable changes in her face all provide plenty of fuel for the fire. The most noticeable changes in Kylie’s face are the higher cheekbones, more pointed chin and a softening of the jawline. While these could also be due to the use of fillers or Botox, it is also worth mentioning that her hairline also seems a bit higher than it has in previous photos.

Another reason that so many believe that Kylie has had a facelift is her eyes. In prior photographs, the star’s eyes appear much rounder. Now, the corners definitely appear elongated, giving her that telltale appearance that most people associate with facelifts. However, this could also be a symptom of the numerous fillers in her cheeks and chin, which could cause the skin to appear tauter.

While it may be difficult to determine whether Kylie Jenner has had a facelift, there is no denying that she has had plenty of plastic surgery in her short life. While the youngster claims that her mom wouldn’t allow her to do all those things, she is 18 now, and the changes in her appearance certainly tell a much different story. Only time will tell if the budding starlet and makeup mogul continues to alter her appearance in an effort to look much older than she really is.
